Social Skills

SOCIAL SKILLS

Social skills are assessed across each individual student and programming is developed that meets each student’s individual social needs.  With the use of ABA, we target skills that will allow our students to engage in more meaningful interactions with others.  Brooklyn Autism Center is fortunate to partner with local schools who have their students participate in socialization activities with our students on an ongoing basis.  Our inclusion programs create opportunities for peer modeling to help our students learn social skills through games and other fun activities.  Examples of areas for social skill development include:

* Attending Skills (Eye Contact, Responding to others)
* Language and Communication Skills
* Conversation Skills
* Friendship Skills
* Play Skills
* Social Etiquette (Greetings, Manners, Compliments)
* Perspective Taking
* Conflict Resolution
* Giving and Following Directions
* Reading Social Cues & Social Problem Solving
